Biking trails in the surroundings of Kašperské Hory
Although there are not many specifically marked biking trails in the surroundings of Kašperské Hory, there is a lot of ways and paths in this region bikers will enjoy. Choose one them.
To Rejštejn, up to Červená and back passing by the bison farm
The circuit biking trail length is 18 km
Kašperské Hory – follow the blue marked trail to the old Rejštejn road – before you come to Rejštejn, after a steep descent, turn left towards Červená and keep riding up the Losenice creek passing the Rejštejn sawmill, Červená sawmill and Karlina pila sawmill, overcoming a moderate climbing section, you will come to the village of Červená – here, there is an asphalt road descent section passing by a bison farm to the Mlýn na rybníce – then a rising section to the cross at Liščí hill – turn to left to a plant nursery Pískovna – then turn to left and keep rising along an asphalt road to the main asphalt road connecting Vimperk and Kašperské Hory – turn left and ride down the hill to Kašperské Hory.
The circuit trail around the hill of Ždánov
The circuit biking trail length is 18 km
Kašperské Hory – follow the road to Vimperk up to Cikánka, then turn left towards Nezdice, Kašperk – after you arrive to the pass, leave the asphalt road by turning right and keep following the red marked hiking trail (a forest way) around the hill of Žďánov – straight on to the former Žďánov settlement – keep the elevation riding along the way (the red hiking trail turns to the Královský kámen hill) – 600 m – behind this cross road turn left following the contour line way on the ridge of the Žďánov hill – this is the end of the circuit and connection to the descent to Kašperské Hory.
From Kašperské Hory to Javorník, Nicov and back
The circuit biking trail length is 24 km
Start in the centre of Kašperské Hory passing by the school to the green marked hiking trail and the red marked biking trail to the former settlement of Ždánov. We recommend stopping and making a short walk to the chapel of St. John, an alleged meeting point of Bavarian saccharin smugglers. Once you have arrived to the village of Javorník, it is worth enjoying beautiful views form the village itself, the rotunda and the lookout tower. On your way back, follow the same trail to the crossroad at Krankoty. Here turn down to Nicov (a late Romanesque church of St. Martin, a baroque rectory, log houses). Here cross the road Kašperské Hory – Stachy. Follow the blue marked Klosterman´s way to the crossroad below the Milovský hill. Riding downhill, enjoy the views of the landscape until you come to the Zlatý potok in the Amálino valley. Here you have to recover all remaining forces for the final climb to Kašperské Hory.
The circuit biking
Trail length is 27 km
Kašperské Hory – towards Vimperk – at na Cikánce turn towards Nezdice, Kašperk – climb to the pass and downhill to Nezdice passing by the Rychta na Račánku restaurant – after some time turn right to the first asphalt road – after a moderate rising section you will arrive to Zaluží (a hunting lodge of the Lamberg family sometimes also referred as “Malá Hluboká”) – then ride downhill to the village of Pohorsko – following the yellow hiking trail to the village of Lazny – a yellow marked sunken road to Strašín, (here you may choose to go and see the local church) – turn to left and ride downhill to Nezdice – at the crossroad turn to Sušice, after 400 m, at the right side, there is the Strašínská cave – then back to Nezdice and uphill towards Kašperské Hory. At the Rychta na Račánku restaurant turn right behind the parking and keep riding to the Kašperk castle – at the castle turn right and ride the yellow marked path towards Kašperské Hory – turn left after 300 m to a local hiking marking system to Kavrlík – follow riding downhill the asphalt road to Kašperské Hory.
Obří hrad
Kašperské Hory – towards Vimperk below the hunting lodge Nebe – towards Řetenice (4.5 km) – then through a viewing point of the Zlatý potok valley to Nicov (6.0 km) – turn right to the blue hiking trail and then to the yellow hiking trail to Popelná (9.5 km) (here you can put you bike aside and walk to the ruins of the Celtic fortified settlement Obří hrad) – take the red marked hiking trail from Popelná down the Losenice creek to an asphalt road (12.0 km), turn right and ride uphill to Červená (13.5 km) – turn left behind the village at a small chapel (14.0 km) to a dirt way passing by a bison farm, pass by Hutašín towards Lídlovy dvory (15.5 km) – then right to Císařský dvůr (17.0 km) – follow the red marked trail to the Amálino valley and uphill to Kašperské Hory (20.0 km).
Bohemian Forest views
Kašperské Hory – follow the blue marked trail to the old Rejštejn road – ride down to Rejštejn (3.5 km) – then take the red hiking trail towards Srní up to to Myší domky (5.0 km) – then turn left and start climbing towards Horská Kvilda, after you come to Svojše (8.0 km) (there is a possibility to go and see Dračí skály, a rock offering a scenic view of the Otava river) – turn right behind Svojše – approx. 800 m – keep riding uphill along an asphalt road – before you approach a big right turn (10.0 km) turn left to Dobronín and Kozí Hřbety – turn to right to the green marked hiking trail (12.0 km) – now you come to a large meadow called Flusárna (13.0 km), there is view of Kašperské Hory – then turn left and ride downhill to Podlesí – Vogelsang (14.0 km) – keep riding downhill to an asphalt road to the Losenice creek (15.5 km) – turn left to the sawmill Červená (16.0 km) – here turn to the green marked trail, ride over a bridge to the Amálino valley – pass by the Šumava hotel (18.0 km) – and finally climb uphill to Kašperské Hory (20.0 km).

Kašperské Hory – Tuškov – here turn left to a dirt way to Opolenec – turn left in the upper part of the village – first ride through the forest and downhill on meadows to the road Sušice – Kašperské Hory – turn left to the children camp Radost and to Radešov – turn right to the bridge over the Otava river – behind the power plant canal and before your arrive to the Radešov hotel turn left and climb above the Otava river – keep riding along the river to Klášterský Mlýn – after you come to Rejštejn, turn to Červená and ride up the Losenice creek to the bridge over this creek and further to the Amálino valley – up the Zlatý potok – pass by the recreation centre of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic – keep riding straight on a forest way and keep then up to the Zlatý potok – by retention tanks – the seismic station to the Mlýn na rybníce – turn left and first ride uphill and downhill to Kašperské Hory.
